A "Breaking Bread" and 'Giving Back to our communities', Project of the SIKH Community.



"LANGAR" refers to the 'Free communal kitchen' offered in Sikh Gurdwaras (temples), where everyone, regardless of their age, social, economic, or religious background, is welcome to partake in a free meal, prepared by volunteers.

Everyone sits on floor and eats. Thus, eradicating barriers of caste, class, gender etc.
(a practise common in India, where Sikhism originated)

This practise promotes a sense of unity and equality among all individuals.

Hon. Harjit Singh Sajjan

The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan was first elected as Canada's Member of Parliament from Vancouver in 2015. He served as Defence Minister of Canada from 2015 to 2021.

Hon. Dr. Manmohan Singh

13th Prime Minister of India from 2004-2014. A humble, globally respected economist who turned India's economy around and set it on path to be one of major global economies.

At Langar-Projects, we aim to celebrate the spirit of "Langar" by showcasing the remarkable initiatives and individuals who are making a difference in their communities. Through inspiring stories, projects, and collaborations, we strive to create a platform where the power of "Langar" (Free food) can be witnessed, understood, and replicated worldwide.
